THE VITALS- One particularly rewarding project came when Doner hired us to do something to honor the nurses during this pandemic, acknowledging their dedication and the sacrifices that they make to do their jobs and help those who need it. Literally the definition of a hero. My team got to work creating a comic that struck the proper respectful tone, while honoring the nurses in true Marvel style. We made a comic book story in print, digital and also a motion comic. The story went viral and it was all over the news. We were all proud of that one.
Here's a look at how the nurses and their families reacted when they received copies of, THE VITALS.
THE UNBEATABLES- A project done for Takeda Pharmaceutical, delivered aspirational messaging and information about I.B.D. and life with this disease. Working with the I.B.D. patients and doctors, Marvel created a super hero team consisting of fictional people representing the I.B.D. community.
CLEAR– Makers of Clear shampoo and other health and beauty products, based in China, came to Marvel's Custom team wanting a branded comic book story to deliver a message about confidence and that even heroes occasionally face fear and self doubt. The result was an Avengers comic that was also animated and released as short digital videos.
In 2021 the FDA approached Marvel about creating a comic book story with a warning about the dangers of VAPING. They did not want a brochure and they were running "monster" themed television commercials based on their "Real Cost" slogan. The custom team, led by Creative Lead, Darren Sanchez, suggested a take on classic horror comics, and created the campaign called, "The Mind Control Menace." Sanchez called on the talented creative team of Paul Allor, J.L. Giles, and Lee Duhig to bring it to life, and animation director Matteo Stanzani to create the digital version for Marvel.com.
